The Emerging Leaders committee will be hosting another networking and education session at the offices of Jaros, Baum & Bolles on January 9, 2019 for up-and-coming professionals preparing to enter upper management roles in member firms.

Program: Legislation Drafting Through the Lens of the Energy Code Committee

Learn about the legislative process by which ACEC New York staff and members engage in policymaking (presented by Bill Murray, NYC Director of Government Relations, ACEC New York)

Scott Frank and Josephine Zurica will present the overall goal and efforts of the Energy Code Committee, as well as the committee’s work on and review of the Retrofit Bill.

Bios:

Scott E. Frank, PE, LEED AP
Partner - Jaros, Baum & Bolles (JB&B)
Scott Frank has had a long career in the fields of energy conservation and design. A founding member and current Board Chair of Urban Green Council, he serves on the New York City Energy Code Advisory Committee and leads the Sustainable Design practice at Jaros, Baum & Bolles (JB&B), a full-service consulting engineering firm that has been at the forefront of advancing design professional practice toward sustainability. With his background in heating, ventilation and air conditioning design―a key driver in building energy conservation―Scott has managed energy-efficient projects throughout NYC, including the Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park, the office towers at the WTC site, and the Jerome L. Greene Science Center at Columbia University’s Manhattanville campus.

Josephine Zurica, P.E., LEED AP BD+C, CPHC
Principal – Dagher Engineering, PLLC
As principal of the firm, Josephine has extensive experience in project management, mechanical engineering, and sustainable design. As one of Dagher Engineering’s primary sustainable design specialists, and as a Certified Passive House Consultant, Josephine is well-versed in energy conservation strategies that promote efficiency while meeting budgetary requirements. Josephine has a deep affinity for historically sensitive and complicated projects, and has distinguished herself by seamlessly managing her studio to provide MEP systems that are fully integrated within the architecture.

 

Bill Murray
NYC Director of Government Relations, ACEC New York
Bill Murray is the NYC Director of Government Relations for the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York). Prior to joining ACEC New York in 2017, Bill worked at the New York City Council for eight years as a Deputy Chief of Staff and a Senior Analyst under the Council Speaker. Bill was involved in over 40 pieces of legislation that were enacted into law, with a focus on sustainability and a range of other topics. Bill holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Queens College and a Master’s degree from Columbia University.
