ACEC TriState 2019 Fall Conference
Annual Meeting: A Successful Close to 2018-19. On June 5, ACEC New York held the Annual Meeting, the final membership meeting of the 2018-19 fiscal year, at the Union League Club in New York City. The event began with a tour of the East Side Access project on June 4. A morning business program, featuring a PDH session on building energy performance and a panel discussion/presentation on the Javits Center, was held on the morning of June 5, followed by the Awards Luncheon. During the luncheon, the 2019 Leadership Institute graduates were recognized, and the 2019-20 board of directors were sworn in. Charles Gozdziewski, P.E., Chairman Emeritus, Hardesty and Hanover, was recognized as Engineer of the Year. Maxine Hill, Sr. Vice President, NY Area Manager, WSP USA, was recognized as New Principal of the Year. The ACE Mentor Program of Greater New York earned the Chairman's Award. The 2019-20 Board of Directors was sworn in. Col. Thomas Asbery, Commander, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - NY District, addressed attendees as the Keynote Speaker. Due July 26: Engineering Excellence Now Accepting Preliminary Entries. The 2020 Engineering Excellence Awards program is now accepting preliminary applications! Each year, over 60 firms submit projects that are judged on a rigorous set of criteria, which includes complexity, innovation and value to society. To submit your entry, fill out the online form. 2020 Upstate Leadership Institute - Limited Registration Still Available. Registration for the 2020 Leadership Institute is now available! Two classes will be offered in New York City, and one class will be held in Syracuse, beginning in September 2019. Spots are filling quickly! Attention! 2020 EEA Moderators Needed. Engineering Excellence judging is scheduled for October 30 in New York City. The Engineering Excellence Committee is seeking licensed design professionals to act as moderators for the competition. In advance of the judging, the Moderator receives copies of the entrant’s written and visual materials. Moderators prepare a presentation 5-7 minutes in length about the project to present to the judges. Each moderator receives 4-8 projects. Crain's New York Business Top Firms List. Crain's New York Business will publish its annual list of the New York area's largest engineering firms, ranked by total number of licensed engineers in New York-area offices in 2018. To qualify for this list, a company must have an office in the New York area. Firms should have received information on this survey via email. Surveys must be submitted by July 9, 2019. Questions? Call for Programs - Affiliate Firms. ACEC New York is offering Affiliate Members the opportunity to present a business program to our members. These meetings will be held in conjunction with our quarterly Metro Region Membership Meetings and are an excellent way for our affiliate members to offer important information to our firms. Call for Submissions! ACEC New York is looking for both technical and business programs to present as webinars. PDH webinars should be about one hour and should be technical in nature. Presenters earn 3 PDHs per 1-hour technical class the first time they present.
