Annual Awards 2018 – Nominations Due April 13. The Recognition Awards Committee is soliciting applications for New Principal of the Year (nominee must be a principal at a member firm less than 5 years) and the Engineer of the Year (nominee must be current or retired ACEC New York Member). As a reminder, nominations are by FIRM and NOT by region. Help us reach our goal of a record number of applications this year! The awards will be presented at the Annual Meeting on June 6, 2018. Conquering the Energy Code for Engineers and Architects. Urban Green Council is offering classes throughout New York State to review the many requirements in the 2015 NYS Energy Conservation Construction Code and design more energy-efficient buildings in the process. All classes are 9:00am-5:00pm. Upcoming dates include: Five Star Bank - Rochester April 24; NYSSPE Albany May 3; Urban Green Council - Manhattan May 9; USGBC Long Island - Hauppauge May 22, 2018. Updates to Membership Listing Due May 25. We have updated our membership renewal process to accommodate changes in both our print and electronic directories through our website. The main contact for each firm should review their firm’s listing in our online directory, and any changes should be submitted via each firm's online directory login by May 25. An email with detailed instructions will be sent to all main contacts. Reminder: ONLY the main contact for each firm/branch can make changes to directory entries - other logins do not have this feature. On May 25, your listing will be considered current and will be printed in the directory.
Committee Participation Form to be Released this Month. The electronic Committee Participation Form will be issued to the ACEC New York main contact for each firm. Each firm should submit only ONE form for committee nominations. Assignments are made by the Chair-elect and are announced in July (term is August 1-July 30). Should anyone leave his/her firm, the committee spot reverts back to the member firm, and they can designate another individual to take on this role. Requests received after this date may not be accommodated for the 2018-2019 operating year.
DEP Stormwater Management Plan Issued for Public Review and Comment. NYCDEP has released the Draft NYC Stormwater Management Plan. Comments on the draft plan can be submitted to email@example.com until May 15, 2018. DEP will also present the draft plan at two public meetings: Tuesday, April 24 RSVP and Wednesday, May 2 RSVP.
