Fall Conference Monday Night Speaker Confirmed: Chris Mazdzer, Two-time Luge Olympian (2010, 2014): The Monday night keynote speaker for the 2017 Fall Conference, to be held September 17-19 at the Lake Placid High Peaks Resort, has been confirmed as Chris Mazder, Mazdzer is an American luger who has been active internationally since 2001. He competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, finishing 13th on both occasions. Chris is currently training for his third Olympics. Registration is still available for this event; visit our event website for a full agenda and to register.

Engineering Excellence Late Preliminary Entries Accepted Until Friday, August 4. The 2018 Engineering Excellence Awards program is still accepting late preliminary applications, with a late fee of $75, until this Friday, August 4. To submit your entry, fill out the online form. Program guidelines are available to download from our website. A pdf version of the form is also available for your planning purposes (do NOT submit the pdf form; all submissions must be received through the online form). Firms with preliminary entries that meet all criteria will receive instructions for submitting their final entries in the next two weeks. For questions, contact our office at (518) 452-8611.

2018 Upstate Leadership Institute - Limited Registration Still Available. Registration for the 2018 Leadership Institute is now available! Two classes will be offered in New York City, and one class will be held in Syracuse, beginning in September 2017. Spots are filling quickly - there are 6 spots available in the second NYC class, while Syracuse has 7 seats left. To register, download either the New York City or the Upstate registration brochure and return with payment no later than September 1, 2017. For questions, call our Albany office at (518) 452-8611.

Attention! EEA Moderators Needed. Engineering Excellence judging is scheduled for October 25 in New York City. The Engineering Excellence Committee is seeking licensed design professionals to act as moderators for the competition. In advance of the judging, the Moderator receives copies of the entrant’s written and visual materials. Moderators prepare a presentation 5-7 minutes in length about the project to present to the judges. Each moderator receives 4-8 projects. If you would like to serve as a moderator, contact Erica Lavigne at erica@acecny.org and indicate the category you are interested in moderating: (a) Studies, Research and Consulting Engineering Services, (b) Building/Technology Systems, (c) Structural Systems, (d) Surveying and Mapping Technology, (e) Environmental (f) Waste and Storm Water (g) Water Resources (h) Transportation (k) Energy and (l) Industrial and Manufacturing Processes and Facilities.

Charles Gozdziewski Named ACEC Fellow. ACEC New York is proud to announce that past Chair Charles Gozdziewski, Principal at Hardesty & Hanover, has been named to the ACEC National College of Fellows! The College of Fellows is a distinguished class of engineers who have been selected by their peers as deserving recognition for exemplary contributions to the profession.

ACEC New York PDH Webinars

Call for Submissions! ACEC New York is looking for both technical and business programs to present as webinars. PDH webinars should be about one hour and should be technical in nature. Presenters earn 3 PDHs per 1-hour class the first time they present. Business webinars should also be about 1 hour and should provide information relevant to our membership.
