NEWS Online - August 2018

Launching this Week: New Website! This week, ACEC New York is launching a new website and CRM system through the YourMembership platform. The goal of this new system is to improve communications with our members and create an easily accessible database with up-to-date contact information. Much of the website will remain the same or similar, including a searchable membership directory and a "members only" section. The largest change will be to our event registration system, which will now require a login. This will allow our staff to better track attendance, open invoices, etc. Full instructions on logging in, as well as usernames and passwords, will be sent to members on Monday, August 13. An introductory webinar will be held on Wednesday, August 29 to introduce users to the new system and answer any questions (a recording of this webinar will also be available for members to view following the webinar). We look forward to exploring the new opportunities offered by this new system.

Change is good! Our new website will offer an improved level of value for our members, including enhanced networking opportunities and an improved user experience.

Robert Silman Passes at 83. ACEC New York regrets to share the news of the passing of Robert Silman on July 31, 2018, at the age of 83. Silman founded the member firm that bears his name in 1966, and since then, he has been a beloved figure in the engineering industry. A private service for the family will be held near their home in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. A memorial service in New York City will take place in Fall 2018. Donations are being accepted at the Center for Architecture in his memory.

Reminder: PDH Course Approval Fee to Change on 9/1. On September 1, 2018, the fee for PDH course approval will now be $100 for members and $375 for non-members. This change is necessary to accommodate increased interest and subsequent workload. All other fees will remain the same, including a $100 fee for courses received less than 10 days before the course date and the $40 member/$75 non-member fee for offering a duplicate course within the given year. For more information on course approval, including the application to submit courses, visit our website.
