Annual Meeting: Ending 2016-17 on a High Note. On June 7, ACEC New York held the Annual Meeting, the final membership meeting of the 2016-17 fiscal year, at the Union League Club in New York City. The event began with a tour of the East Side Access project on June 6, with a business program and luncheon taking place on June 7. During the luncheon, the 2017 Leadership Institute graduates were recognized, and the 2017-18 board of directors were sworn in. The year-end awards were presented to Engineer of the Year Joseph Amato, PE; New Principal of the Year Sissy Nikolaou, PE, Ph.D.; and Chairman's Award recipient Matthew Driscoll, Commissioner of the NYS DOT. Phil Eng, Chief Operating Officer of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, addressed attendees as the keynote speaker. Due July 28: Engineering Excellence Now Accepting Preliminary Entries. The 2018 Engineering Excellence Awards program is now accepting preliminary applications! Each year, over 60 firms submit projects that are judged on a rigorous set of criteria, which includes complexity, innovation and value to society. To submit your entry, fill out the online form. Program guidelines are available to download from our website. A pdf version of the form is also available for your planning purposes (do NOT submit the pdf form; all submissions must be received through the online form). Call for Submissions: PDH Course Needed for Fall Conference. The 2017 Fall Conference will take place September 17-19 at the High Peaks resort in Lake Placid, NY. We are currently looking for two live PDH courses - one on Monday, September 18 from 7:50 - 8:40 AM and Tuesday, September 19 from 7:30 - 8:20 AM. 2018 Upstate Leadership Institute - Limited Registration Still Available. Registration for the 2018 Leadership Institute is now available! Two classes will be offered in New York City, and one class will be held in Syracuse, beginning in September 2017. Spots are filling quickly - there are nine spots available between the two NYC classes, while Syracuse has 11 seats left. Attention! EEA Moderators Needed. Engineering Excellence judging is scheduled for October 25 in New York City. The Engineering Excellence Committee is seeking licensed design professionals to act as moderators for the competition. In advance of the judging, the Moderator receives copies of the entrant’s written and visual materials. Moderators prepare a presentation 5-7 minutes in length about the project to present to the judges. Each moderator receives 4-8 projects. ACEC New York Firms Top Crain’s List. The Crain's New York Business list of Top 20 Engineering firms has been released, and all 20 of the top engineering firms are members of ACEC New York. ACEC New York PDH Webinars

Call for Submissions! ACEC New York is looking for both technical and business programs to present as webinars. PDH webinars should be about one hour and should be technical in nature. Presenters earn 3 PDHs per 1-hour class the first time they present. Business webinars should also be about 1 hour and should provide information relevant to our membership. Contact Erica Lavigne at
