ACEC New York Firms Top Crain's Engineering List. The Crain's New York Business list of Top Engineering firms has been released, and 19 of the top engineering firms are members of ACEC New York. The list can be downloaded here, or read the August 6, 2018 issue of Crain's New York Business. You can also order the full engineering firms list directly from Crain's New York Business.

New Website Introduction Webinar: Recording Available. On August 29, ACEC New York held a webinar reviewing the interface and features of the new website, including the new login system, which is required for event registration. To view a recording of this webinar, visit our YouTube channel.

Attention! 2019 EEA Moderators Needed. Engineering Excellence judging is scheduled for October 23 in New York City. The Engineering Excellence Committee is seeking licensed design professionals to act as moderators for the competition. In advance of the judging, the Moderator receives copies of the entrant’s written and visual materials. Moderators prepare a presentation 5-7 minutes in length about the project to present to the judges. Each moderator receives 4-8 projects. If you would like to serve as a moderator, contact Erica Lavigne at erica@acecny.org and indicate the category you are interested in moderating: (a) Studies, Research and Consulting Engineering Services, (b) Building/Technology Systems, (c) Structural Systems, (d) Surveying and Mapping Technology, (e) Environmental (f) Waste and Storm Water (g) Water Resources (h) Transportation (k) Energy and (l) Industrial and Manufacturing Processes and Facilities.

Consider Donating to the 2018-19 Scholarship Fund. The ACEC New York Scholarship Fund is now accepting donations for 2018-19. Named scholarships reflect contributions of $2,500 or more and are awarded by the firm at an ACEC New York function. Firms can also contribute less than $2,500; these funds are combined into general ACEC New York Scholarships and used to help the Scholarship Fund grow. To donate to the Scholarship Fund, complete the online form and send payment by January 11, 2019. Questions? Contact Amanda Smith at amanda@acecny.org or call 518-452-8611.

Bridges to Community Service Trip: November 2018.  Bridges to Community (BTC), an international not-for-profit organization, is offering a community service trip from November 10 to November 17, 2018. The trip will consist of one week of work in a rural village in the western portion of the Dominican Republic near the border with Haiti. A crew of about 15 people will work with the community to build a home from start to finish for a family currently living in substandard housing conditions. The work is for all ages and abilities. The group is being organized by Nancy Doon, VHB and individuals from other member firms have participated over the years. Leaning Out Documentary: Screening on October 16. ACEC New York is proud to support a new documentary, "Leaning Out: An Intimate Look at Twin Towers Engineer Leslie E. Robertson." It is imperative to share this story of an exceptional figure within the engineering industry, along with his wife and partner SawTeen See, PE. A screening will take place on October 16 during the Architecture and Design Film Festival in NYC. Tickets for this screening will be available beginning September 17.

ACEC New York PDH Webinars
Call for Submissions! ACEC New York is looking for both technical and business programs to present as webinars. PDH webinars should be about one hour and should be technical in nature. Presenters earn 3 PDHs per 1-hour technical class the first time they present. Business webinars should also be about 1 hour and should provide information relevant to our membership (no sales pitches). Contact Erica Lavigne at erica@acecny.org.
